Il leggendario chitarrista, compositore, improvvisatore e 20 volte vincitore del Grammy Pat Metheny annuncia l'uscita del suo nuovo album, MoonDial, su BMG il 26 luglio. Come nelle sue precedenti registrazioni One Quiet Night (2003) e What's It All About (2011), MoonDial è un disco di chitarra solista senza sovraincisioni, registrato con chitarra baritono. Ciò che distingue MoonDial da questi progetti – e da tutto ciò che Metheny ha mai fatto – è che l'album è stato concepito e registrato, e verrà pubblicato, nel bel mezzo di un altro tour. Questa situazione senza precedenti si è verificata in parte a causa del suo entusiasmo per la chitarra stessa: uno strumento con corde di nylon costruito su misura da Linda Manzer, una stretta collaboratrice di Metheny e una delle più importanti liutaie del mondo. Per gli album precedenti, Metheny ha sviluppato uno speciale sistema di accordatura che le corde di nylon convenzionali non sono in grado di ottenere "senza rompersi o suonare come un banjo", come dice Metheny, e la sua scoperta, lo scorso autunno, di un nuovo tipo di corda prodotta in Argentina che era all'altezza del compito ha aperto il mondo di possibilità ascoltate su MoonDial.
